Malic Acid and Fumaric Acid Plant

A new production facility at our clients Maleic Anhydride site. The new facility will produce malic acid and fumaric acid and increase production to a base rate of 10,000 lb/hr. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to double its global capacity by becoming the world’s largest facility for the production of malic and fumaric acid. The new facility will also be expandable to produce new products such as buffer and fortification salts and additional volumes of malic and fumaric acid in the future.

Working as an Independent Engineer on behalf of the project owners, TWD played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the project by actively minimizing risk exposure to the bank right from the project's initiation. Conducting a preliminary assessment of project information, we engaged in pre-construction due diligence, meticulously evaluating construction readiness to ensure the project budget remained realistic for both hard and soft cost categories. Our proactive approach extended to ensuring all necessary project documentation—from permits and bonds to technical specifications and environmental reports—was precisely in place. An in-depth assessment of the project's capital cost and the value of work in place allowed for a comprehensive understanding of financial implications. Additionally, our rigorous certifications and thorough progress reviews further solidified the project's success, providing a robust framework that mitigated risks and ensured sound financial management throughout the project lifecycle.
