Challenge

Supporting 300 Buses in Vancouver

Development of the Marpole Transit Centre in the City of Vancouver. The facility is designed to facilitate the administration and maintenance of a combined fleet of 300 battery electrical and conventionally powered buses, as well as 25 agency support vehicles. The Transit Centre is expected to be operational at its maximum capacity of up to 300 buses in the year 2026.

Outcome

Seamless Project Delivery and Community Engagement

TWD joined the design team led by our prime consultant WSP and Architecture49 to bring together a comprehensive solution to every aspect of the project. TWD worked as the project director to help deliver a seamless and successful project. Our prime role throughout the project showcased our successes through effective project management and design coordination support, and comprehensive mechanical and electrical design for half of the site. Additionally, the positive outcome is reflected in the seamless support provided for City and provincial permitting processes, tendering, and construction administration, coupled with successful consultation and collaboration with First Nations, DFO, Ministry of Forests, and engagement with local businesses and residents.
